Mr. Masood Ul Mulk has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), a leading organisation working to alleviate poverty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, since 2001. He is also Vice-Chairperson of the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN). Prior to joining SRSP, he managed the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) in Chitral for nine years. In recognition of his contribution to development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Merged Districts, he was conferred the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan. Under his leadership, SRSP received the UK-based Ashden Award, widely recognised as the “Green Oscars.”
Mr. Masood has led SRSP’s relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts following the 2005 earthquake, the 2009 Swat Valley conflict and the 2010 floods, working closely with civil and military authorities. Following the 2005 earthquake, he oversaw SRSP’s extensive relief operations and subsequently led the reconstruction of 62,000 houses.
Mr. Masood holds qualifications in Business Management and Rural Development and was a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Austin, USA. He has also undertaken academic and professional programmes at Lawrence College, Wye College, the University of York, American University, and institutions including the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C.
