Condolences:

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Pervez Tahir. As the RSPN’s advisor to the board, Dr Pervez Tahir’s contributions were undoubtedly significant and invaluable. His dedication, knowledge, and passion have left an indelible mark. His commitment to making a positive impact through his writings will be remembered by all who had the privilege of reading his work. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us in the work we do.

Dr. Pervez Tahir was a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics in Islamabad. Dr. Pervez Tahir had been the Chairman of the Bank of Punjab, Chief Economist of the Planning Commission, and Managing Director of the National Energy Conservation Centre. He was Mahbub ul Haq Chair at GCU, Lahore, and Professor of Economics at FCC University in 2007-09. From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Tahir served on the Statistical Advisory Panel of UNDP’s global Human Development Report. A columnist for the Express Tribune, he authored and edited three books, the latest was just brought out by Palgrave Macmillan of London and New York. His publications appeared in numerous journals at home and abroad. He was widely traveled and was a well-known speaker at the international and national conference circuits and media. Dr. Pervez Tahir held a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1990, he held the Joan Robinson Memorial Lectureship at Cambridge.
